Poultry farmer, Dale Wilson started on work to extend his poultry barn and increase his stock to 18,000 birds in order to expand significantly egg production on his farm in Llanbister, Powys. For his plan to be successful Dale commissioned Hydor to design and install a high quality ventilation system to meet his farm’s requirements.

Dale was working within a fixed budget and timeframe, requiring Hydor to undertake flexible working hours, and alongside other contractors on site at the same time.

Dale added: “This was an important expansion for Wilson Eggs, after all we were increasing our stock by over 30%. I had previously bought fans off Hydor and I felt they would be perfect for this job. The price quoted was very competitive and they were able to take time to discuss exactly what I was looking for.”

“The plan we settled on comprised a custom built panel to run alongside our existing systems. Five extra Agri-Jet extract fans were added to the barn roof together with one gate winch motor and one pop hole motor.

“We also added a total of 21, two foot dimmable fluorescent fittings and 18 pendant-style dimmable lamps. I liaised closely with Hydor’s dedicated Site Engineer Shaun Morris, along with Dean Llewellyn from their sales team throughout the process.”

“The service I received from Hydor was excellent. I was particularly impressed that whenever I needed to make contact with Shaun or Dean they were always available and I was never let down. They had a very demanding time window to work in, but the job was completed and commissioned on time,” explained Dale.

Hydor’s Shaun Morris added: “I really enjoyed working alongside this hard working family. Dale and his father, Roy were a pleasure to be with and their hospitality was much appreciated.”

Wilson Eggs is a 15 hectare site. The original building comprised a centre packing room and 40 metres bird areas to either side, each housing 6,000 birds. The expanded barn now accommodates 18,000 birds.
